5800MINIV vs MINI-345
Resideo replaced the 5800MINI with the 5800MINIV: two and a half times the volume, no magnet-alignment LED, and a lid you pry open. The Versa MINI-345 is the 345 MHz door and window sensor that still fits where the 5800MINI fit.
The Versa MINI-345 keeps the 5800MINI's 2.2" x 1" x 0.25" body, its CR2032 battery and a blue magnet-alignment LED.
The 5800MINIV, on the other hand:
- 2.5x larger (2.44" x 1.25" x 0.45")
- Uses a non-standard battery (CR2450)
- No LEDs for magnet alignment, transmission or low battery
- Two different SKUs for the white and brown versions
- You have to use a screwdriver at multiple points to remove the lid

What the Resideo 5800MINIV is
The Resideo 5800MINIV is a single-zone 345 MHz door and window sensor with tamper protection. Resideo sells it as the replacement for the Honeywell 5800MINI on any panel that takes 5800-series sensors. Its installation guide puts the transmitter at 0.45" x 1.25" x 2.44" and the magnet at 0.38" x 0.41" x 1.49". It runs on one CR2450. It enrolls on loop 1 as a supervised RF zone, which is the same zone a Versa MINI-345 takes. It comes in white as the 5800MINIV and in brown as the 5800MINIVBR, two separate part numbers. The Versa MINI-345 is the same kind of sensor in the original 5800MINI's body but with a simple slide-off lid. The rest of this page is what changed.
Size: the 5800MINIV is two and a half times the volume
The Versa MINI-345 transmitter is 2.2" x 1" x 0.25", which works out to 0.55 cubic inches. The 5800MINIV is 2.44" x 1.25" x 0.45", or 1.37 cubic inches, so it's two and a half times the volume of a Versa MINI-345 and 80% deeper.
Depth is what matters when you're replacing a sensor, and width is what matters on a vinyl window, so width gets its own section next. At 0.25" off the frame, a Versa MINI-345 sits inside a casement reveal and clears the screen or the blind, just like the 5800MINI did. At 0.45", a 5800MINIV needs a new spot and a conversation with the homeowner about the bigger box on their trim. The Versa MINI-345 goes back in the same location as the 5800MINI but without any changes.
Width: the 5800MINIV is wider than the 5811 the 5800MINI replaced
This is where the 5800MINIV goes backwards. Honeywell's 5811 was 1-3/16" wide. In 2016 Honeywell replaced it with the 5800MINI at 1" wide. Alarm Grid explained why: the narrower body let installers put the sensor on "double hung windows that may have a smaller space to work with." The Versa MINI-345 kept that 1" width. The 5800MINIV is 1-1/4" wide, and that's wider than the 5811 the 5800MINI was brought in to replace. Ten years of making the mini contact narrower, given back in one part number.
A quarter inch sounds like nothing until you put it on a vinyl window. On a vinyl single-hung or slider, the flat strip of frame beside the sash is narrow, so we read the window makers' own section drawings to see how narrow. Milgard's Style Line and Trinsic single-hungs, and the Style Line slider, give you 1-1/4" of frame face, while Pella's 250 Series double-hung gives 1-3/16", Simonton's DaylightMax single-hung gives 1-1/16", and JELD-WEN's Builders Vinyl double-hung gives about an inch. The Versa MINI-345 is 1" wide and sits on every one of them. The 5800MINIV is 1-1/4" wide, so on the Milgard frames it's edge to edge, and on the Pella, Simonton and JELD-WEN frames it hangs over.
Those are bare-frame numbers. Once the drywall goes in and gets returned to the window, the sheetrock lands on the outer part of that face and takes about half an inch of it. So a 1-1/4" face ends up showing about 3/4", and even a 1-1/2" face ends up showing about an inch. On a returned vinyl frame a 1" contact is about the limit, and that's the space the Versa MINI-345 was sized for. On those frames the 5800MINIV has nowhere to go but to overhang the frame.
The LED: the Versa MINI-345 has three, the 5800MINIV has none
The Versa MINI-345 has three LEDs. The blue Bluefield LED lights up while the magnet is within its 1" range. It stays active for 15 minutes after you put the battery in or take the lid off, so you can check the gap before you press the tape down. The green LED flashes every time the sensor transmits, which is your signal check at install. The red LED flashes when the battery is low. Bluefield is patented Versa technology.
The original 5800MINI had a blue magnetic-field indicator of its own, patented technology and the feature installers remember it for. The 5800MINIV has no LED at all, and Resideo's installation guide for it has no LED section. It tells you to line up the grooved lines on the transmitter cover with the grooved lines on the magnet cover, then check the signal with the panel's Go/No Go test. So on a 5800MINIV you line it up by eye and confirm it at the keypad. On a Versa MINI-345 the sensor tells you right at the window.
The lid: slide-off and color-changeable, or pried open and fixed
The Versa MINI-345 lid slides off by hand. No tool, no prying, and the circuit board stays on the base, so a battery change or a color change is a one-handed job at the window. Versa ships the MINI-345 in white and sells brown and black lids separately, so one white Versa MINI-345 in the truck covers white, brown and black trim. You change the lid, not the part number.
The 5800MINIV's cover separates from its mounting plate, and when we opened a retail unit in September 2026 we had to work it loose at the corners with a flat blade. Its color is set when it's made: white is the 5800MINIV and brown is the 5800MINIVBR, a separate part number. Brown windows mean brown sensors on the shelf, and Resideo doesn't list a black version at all.
Battery: the Versa MINI-345 runs the CR2032 you already carry
The Versa MINI-345 runs one Panasonic CR2032, rated for 5+ years. It's the same cell as the Versa MINI-319 and MINI-433, so one coin cell covers all three frequencies in the truck. The 5800MINIV moves to a CR2450, and Resideo doesn't publish a battery life for it. That's a second cell type to stock. At distributor pricing we checked in September 2026, a CR2450 costs about three and a half times as much as the CR2032. The bigger cell is also part of why the body grew, because a CR2450 is 5.0 mm thick and a CR2032 is 3.2 mm. A Versa MINI-345 needs neither the cell nor the depth.
Compatibility: both enroll as 5800-series 345 MHz sensors
The Versa MINI-345 transmits on 345 MHz using the 5800-series protocol and enrolls on loop 1 as a supervised perimeter zone. We publish it for Honeywell VISTA panels with a 5800-series receiver, Honeywell Lyric, 2GIG GC2, GC3, EDGE and GC Touch, and Resideo PROA7 and PROA7PLUS with a PROTAKEOVER set to rotary 0. If you run a mix of VISTA and 2GIG panels, the Versa MINI-345 is one part number for both. And when it goes in where a 5800MINI came out, there's no reprogramming. Learn the new serial number into the same zone and the loop, zone type and response stay as they were.
Price: about half, before the soft costs
A dealer pays about half as much for a Versa MINI-345 as for a 5800MINIV. That's the hard cost, up front, on every sensor. The soft costs go the same way. A Versa MINI-345 goes back on the 5800MINI's tape mark and shows you the magnet alignment with the blue LED before you press the adhesive down. It takes the CR2032 already in the truck, and it changes color by lid instead of by part number. Every one of those is a trip, a callback or a stocked SKU that the 5800MINIV adds and the Versa MINI-345 doesn't.

Read across the LED row and the body row and you can see it. The 5800MINIV didn't inherit the two things that made the 5800MINI easy to fit and easy to align, and the Versa MINI-345 inherited both.
Which one to put on the window
- Replacing a 5800MINI in place. Go with the Versa MINI-345, because it's the same body, the same tape mark, the same CR2032 and the same loop-1 enrollment, plus the blue alignment LED.
- Casement reveals, narrow stiles, French doors, blind stacks. Go with the Versa MINI-345, because at 0.25" deep with a 1" x 0.320" magnet it fits the opening the 5800MINI was designed for and the 5800MINIV outgrew.
- Vinyl single-hungs and sliders with the drywall returned to the frame. Go with the Versa MINI-345, because it's 1" wide and the frame face is 1-1/4" or less before the drywall takes its share. The 1-1/4" 5800MINIV doesn't fit on that face.
- A mix of VISTA, Lyric, 2GIG and PROA7 panels. Go with the Versa MINI-345, because it's one SKU, one coin cell and one lid in three colors.
- Brown or black trim. Go with the Versa MINI-345 and a brown or black lid, from the same white sensor in the truck.
Versa MINI-345: 2.2" x 1" x 0.25", CR2032, blue Bluefield alignment LED, slide-off lid in white, brown or black.

Frequently asked questions
What is the Resideo 5800MINIV?
The Resideo 5800MINIV is a single-zone 345 MHz wireless door and window sensor with tamper protection, sold as the successor to the Honeywell 5800MINI for panels that support 5800-series devices. It measures 2.44" x 1.25" x 0.45", runs a CR2450 coin cell, has no LED, and is certified under FCC ID CFS8DL5800MINIV. The Versa MINI-345 is the 345 MHz sensor that keeps the original 5800MINI's 2.2" x 1" x 0.25" body.
Is the 5800MINIV the same size as the 5800MINI?
No. The 5800MINIV is 2.44" x 1.25" x 0.45" against the 5800MINI's 2.2" x 1" x 0.25" - two and a half times the volume and 80% deeper. The Versa MINI-345 is the part that keeps the 5800MINI's dimensions, so it goes back on the same tape footprint.
Does the 5800MINIV have a magnet-alignment LED?
No. Resideo's installation guide for the 5800MINIV has no LED section and tells the installer to confirm placement with the control panel's Go/No Go test. Listings that credit the 5800MINIV with a blue LED are incorrectly reusing the 5800MINI's description. The Versa MINI-345 has a blue Bluefield LED that lights while the magnet is within its 1" range, plus a green transmit LED and a red low-battery LED.
Why do some 5800MINIV listings say it has a blue LED and a CR2032 battery?
Because those listings incorrectly reuse the Honeywell 5800MINI's product description. The 5800MINI had a blue magnetic-field indicator and a CR2032; the 5800MINIV has neither. Resideo's 5800MINIV installation guide, the one filed with the FCC, lists no LED, specifies a CR2450 and gives a 2.44" x 1.25" x 0.45" body. The Versa MINI-345 is the sensor that has the blue Bluefield LED, the CR2032 and the 2.2" x 1" x 0.25" body those recycled descriptions are describing.
Does the 5800MINIV come in black?
Resideo lists the 5800MINIV in white and the 5800MINIVBR in brown as separate part numbers; no black version is listed. The Versa MINI-345 ships white with a slide-off lid, and brown and black lids are sold separately, so one sensor covers all three trim colors.
What battery does the 5800MINIV use, and does it cost more than the MINI-345's?
The 5800MINIV uses one CR2450 coin cell; Resideo does not publish a battery life. The Versa MINI-345 uses one Panasonic CR2032 rated for 5+ years, the same cell as the Versa MINI-319 and MINI-433. At distributor pricing checked in September 2026 a CR2450 costs about $0.94 against $0.25 for a CR2032 at quantity 100.
What replaces a 5800MINI in the same spot on a casement window?
The Versa MINI-345. It is 0.25" deep with a 1" x 0.320" magnet, the same as the 5800MINI, so it sits in the same reveal on the same tape footprint. The 5800MINIV is 0.45" deep with a 1.49" x 0.41" magnet and needs a new location.
Will the 5800MINIV fit on a narrow vinyl window frame?
The 5800MINIV is 1-1/4" wide, wider than the 1-3/16" Honeywell 5811 that the 1" 5800MINI replaced. On the vinyl single-hung and slider frames Versa read from the makers' drawings - Milgard Style Line and Trinsic at 1-1/4" of frame face, Pella 250 at 1-3/16", Simonton DaylightMax at 1-1/16", JELD-WEN Builders Vinyl at about 1" - the 5800MINIV is edge to edge or hangs over, and a drywall return takes about another half inch. The Versa MINI-345 is 1" wide, the same as the 5800MINI, and sits on all of them.
Will the Versa MINI-345 work on a Honeywell VISTA, Lyric, 2GIG or Resideo PROA7 panel?
Yes. The Versa MINI-345 transmits on 345 MHz using the 5800-series protocol and enrolls on loop 1 as a supervised perimeter zone on Honeywell VISTA panels with a 5800-series receiver, Honeywell Lyric, 2GIG GC2, GC3, EDGE and GC Touch, and Resideo PROA7 and PROA7PLUS with a PROTAKEOVER set to rotary 0.
