Wireless Shock Sensors

The one that mounts on the frame, has adjustable sensitivity and reports on a supervised zone at your panel's frequency. That way the alarm goes in before entry. The Versa SHOCK-319 does all three on 319.5 MHz. It pairs a shock sensor with a door/window contact on one zone. It tunes on a screwdriver dial with green pre-shock and red alarm LEDs, and it runs 8+ years on one CR2U. It also carries UL, FCC and IC compliance.

It works with the Qolsys IQ Panel 2+, IQ Panel 4 and IQ Panel 5 with the SRF card. It also works with GE/Interlogix-class 319.5 MHz panels.

A shock sensor is a forced-entry vibration detector that mounts on the door or window frame. It feels the impact of prying, kicking or drilling, so it trips during the attempt, before entry. A PIR motion detector watches body heat moving inside a room, so it trips once someone is already in. The two cover different failure modes, and many jobs use both.

A glassbreak detector is a third device class again. It's an acoustic sensor that sits in the room and listens for the sound of shattering glass. The SHOCK-319 sits on the frame and feels the attack instead.

Yes. The SHOCK-319 carries a shock sensor and a built-in reed switch, and a DIP switch marked REED SW picks the mode. Set to ON it reports shock and the door/window contact using the supplied magnet, and the shock alarm activates only while the opening is closed. Set to OFF the reed and magnet go unused, and the shock alarm activates whether the opening is closed or open. So one device covers the contact zone and adds shock detection on the same frame, which saves you hardware and a zone.

Any 319.5 MHz panel that takes a standard supervised zone. That means the Qolsys IQ Panel 2+, IQ Panel 4 and IQ Panel 5, each with the 319.5 MHz SRF card installed. It also means GE/Interlogix-class 319.5 MHz panels. The SRF card is what lets a Qolsys panel hear 319.5 MHz sensors, so check for it before you order.

Mount the unit first, then tune it. You strike the surface gently with the palm of your hand and build up pressure, or you turn the dial clockwise with a small screwdriver. Stop when you get the response you want. Green flashes on a pre-shock reading, which means the impact came close to the threshold without reaching it. Red lights only when the shock alarm fires.

Then confirm it stays quiet in normal use. Normal traffic, wind and window coverings shouldn't trip it, because that's where false alarms come from.

One 3V Versa CR2U lithium cell, rated for 8+ years. You can replace it with a Panasonic CR2, fitted plus end up. The lid slides off by hand, so a battery change happens with the sensor still on the frame. Taking the cover off is a monitored event, so disarm or put the system in test mode first.

It ships white, and the brown and black cover packs each give you ten sensor covers, ten magnet covers and ten magnet bases. The old cover slides off and the replacement slides on, so the base stays put and the sensitivity setting stays where you left it.

The Versa part for DSC is the MINI-433 door and window contact at 433 MHz. It fits the DSC PowerSeries PC1832 and PC1864 with a 433 MHz receiver, the DSC Impassa and the DSC Alexor. The SHOCK-319 is a 319.5 MHz sensor, so it's the one for Qolsys IQ and GE/Interlogix-class panels. It sits alongside the MINI-319 contact and the PIR-319 motion detector on that same frequency.
