Wireless Motion Detectors

Two frequencies across two parts. The PIR-319 is fixed on 319.5 MHz, so it fits the Qolsys IQ Panel 2+, IQ Panel 4 and IQ Panel 5 with the 319.5 MHz SRF card, and GE/Interlogix 319.5 MHz panels. The PIR-DUAL covers that same 319.5 MHz list with its switch ON. Set the switch OFF and it runs at 345 MHz for Honeywell VISTA, 2GIG GC2, GC3 and Edge, and a Resideo PROA7 or PROA7PLUS fitted with the PROTAKEOVER.

So the PIR-DUAL covers both ecosystems from one part number. A frequency switch inside the sensor sets the band, and you set it before the battery goes in.

Yes. Both the PIR-319 and the PIR-DUAL are pet-immune up to 55 lb. Two pyroelectric elements alternate in polarity, and a digital signal-processing engine only declares an alarm on a qualified sequence of polarity changes. That sequence improves immunity to pets, drafts and sunlight, and a person crossing the room still trips the zone.

You mount the sensor 7.5 ft or 10 ft above the floor to get the rated behaviour. Height is the part installers underrate, because the lens keeps a pet in the lower zones where the pattern ignores it.

Both detect motion up to 40 ft in the direction the sensor faces, and 40 ft at 45 degrees, across 98 optical fields of view. So a corner mount uses that spread to cover a room with one device. Both mount flat on a wall, in a corner, or on the optional bracket.

Aim matters more than reach. People are detected best moving across the field of view rather than straight at it, so you point the sensor so a likely path through the room crosses its view.

Close the cover to start it. For the next 5 minutes the LED lights for about 2 seconds on each detection, so you can confirm coverage without a panel chime or a second person at the keypad. Walk across the coverage, wait for the LED to go out, then allow about 12 seconds before the next pass.

After 5 minutes the LED disables itself and the sensor runs normally. In normal operation a 3-minute hold-off runs between reports, so the zone won't fire again straight away. That's by design, and you walk-test the sensor at least once a year.

Each one runs on one CR123A 3V lithium battery, with 3+ years of typical life. The sensor supervises itself and sends a low-battery report to the panel, so you get warning before it goes quiet. The same cell fits both parts, so one spare covers the pair.

The Qolsys 319.5 MHz RF module, which is the SRF daughter card. Those panels read 319.5 MHz through that card, so it has to be fitted for either Versa motion detector to learn in. Then you use Auto Learn Sensor and pick an interior zone type. The PIR-319 arrives on 319.5 MHz, and on the PIR-DUAL you set the switch to ON.

Before the battery goes in, set the frequency switch, so ON is 319.5 MHz and OFF is 345 MHz. To change it afterwards, take the battery out, move the switch, then put the battery back. The setting only takes when the battery goes in after the switch is set.

Set the switch with the battery already seated and you get a sensor that won't learn in, while the frequency looks correct on the bench. That's why it's the first thing to check on a zone that never reports.
