SHOCK-319 Door/Window + Shock Sensor

The Versa SHOCK-319 is a 319.5 MHz wireless sensor that combines a door/window contact and an adjustable shock sensor on a single zone, for Qolsys IQ and GE/Interlogix-class panels.

To install it: pick a stationary mounting spot, run your panel's Go/No Go signal test, stick the transmitter to the door or window frame and the magnet to the moving part, set the DIP switch and shock sensitivity, then enroll the built-in serial number into your panel in autolearn mode.

Before you begin You will need the SHOCK-319 transmitter and magnet, the supplied double-faced tape, a small flat-blade screwdriver (to set the shock sensitivity dial), and access to your alarm panel's programming/autolearn menu. The 3V Versa CR2U lithium battery is installed in the unit.

LED indicators

The SHOCK-319 uses three LEDs to guide installation and confirm alarms. The blue Bluefield LED is the magnet-alignment indicator that makes placement a one-person job.

LED What it means
Blue Lights when the magnet is within proper range of the SHOCK-319 (1 inch max). Active for 5 minutes after the battery is first installed or when the cover is removed.
Green Flashes when the SHOCK-319 detects a pre-shock measurement that is near, but not quite strong enough, to trigger the shock alarm.
Red Lights to indicate a shock alarm is in progress.

Set the DIP switch (reed contact)

A single DIP switch enables or disables the internal reed switch, which is the door/window contact. Set it before you mount, based on whether you want the opening reported as a separate contact zone.

DIP switch Function
ON Enables reed switch operation — the SHOCK-319 reports both the shock sensor and the door/window contact. Shock activates when the reed switch and magnet are in the closed position.
OFF Disables reed switch operation — shock only. The reed switch and magnet are unused, and shock activates whether the opening is closed or open.

Choose a mounting location

Good placement is what keeps the SHOCK-319 catching real forced-entry attempts without nuisance trips.

  • Choose a spot where the device body is stationary and the magnet mounts to the moving part of the door or window.
  • Verify adequate signal strength using your control panel's Go/No Go test (see the panel's instructions) before mounting permanently.
  • Avoid areas exposed to moisture, or where the operating temperature of 32° to 122°F (0° to 50°C) would be exceeded.
  • Keep the SHOCK-319 and magnet away from metal or metallic surfaces such as foil wallpaper.
  • Avoid mounting in areas with a large quantity of metal or electrical wiring, such as a furnace or utility room.

Install the SHOCK-319

STEP 1

Mount the transmitter

Mount the SHOCK-319 on the frame of the protected door or window using the supplied double-faced tape. Mount it on the frame or sash — not on the glass surface.

STEP 2

Mount the magnet and confirm alignment

Mount the supplied magnet on the protected door, or on the opening portion of the protected window. Check that the blue Bluefield LED lights when the door or window is closed, which confirms the magnet is within the 1 inch range.

STEP 3

Set the shock sensitivity

With the unit mounted, test sensitivity by gently hitting the surface with the palm of your hand. Gradually increase the pressure, or turn the shock sensitivity adjustment dial clockwise with a small screwdriver, until the desired response is obtained. Confirm that normal traffic and normal door/window operation does not trip the shock sensor, and that wind or window coverings do not cause accidental trips. Do not cause stress or damage to the mounting surface or glass while testing.

Warning: do not test on glass To avoid personal injury, do not apply pressure to glass inserts or windows. The SHOCK-319 is intended to be installed on window frames and doors, with or without glass inserts, but not on the actual glass surface.

Enroll the SHOCK-319 into your panel

The SHOCK-319 has a built-in unique serial number that must be enrolled into the control panel. Refer to your control panel's installation instructions for the exact programming steps; the general sequence is:

Autolearn the sensor

  1. Place your panel in "autolearn" mode.
  2. Open or close the magnet, or tap the cover, so the sensor transmits its serial number.
  3. Customize the zone name and settings, then touch "ADD" to save.

Battery

The SHOCK-319 runs on one 3V lithium Versa CR2U cell rated for 5+ years of service. Replace it with a Versa CR2U or Panasonic CR2; using another battery may present a risk of fire or explosion. The slide-off lid lets you swap the battery with the unit still mounted.

Battery caution Risk of fire, explosion and burns. Do not recharge, disassemble, heat above 212°F (100°C), or incinerate. Dispose of used batteries properly. Keep away from children.

Compatible panels

The SHOCK-319 programs as a standard supervised 319.5 MHz zone. It works with:

  • Qolsys IQ Panel 4 and IQ Panel 2+ equipped with the 319.5 MHz (SRF) radio module
  • GE/Interlogix-class 319.5 MHz security panels

On a Qolsys IQ Panel, add the 319.5 MHz (SRF) module so the panel can learn 319.5 MHz sensors, then enroll the SHOCK-319 in autolearn mode as above.

How do I install the SHOCK-319?

What is the Bluefield LED?

Bluefield is Versa's blue magnet-alignment LED. It lights when the magnet is within the 1 inch range and stays active for 5 minutes after the battery is installed or the cover is removed, so one installer can confirm placement without a second person at the panel.
