What the Honeywell 5800PIR is

The Versa part: PIR-DUAL, set to 345 MHz
The PIR-DUAL is a dual-element passive infrared motion detector with a switch-selectable radio. One SKU, two bands. For a Honeywell or 2GIG job you set it to 345 MHz; for a Qolsys or GE/Interlogix job you set it to 319.5 MHz. That is the whole reason it exists: a dealer running a mixed panel base stocks one motion detector instead of two.
Inside, a precision multi-zone Fresnel lens divides the protected area into alternating detection zones, and a digital signal-processing engine evaluates the infrared signal to confirm genuine movement while rejecting false alarms. The two pyroelectric elements alternate in polarity, and a qualified sequence of polarity changes is required before the detector declares an alarm - which is what gives it immunity to drafts, sunlight and other nuisance sources.

Which panels the 345 MHz setting covers
Motion detectors are frequency-specific. Match the detector to the receiver in the panel rather than to the brand on the front of it.

The PROA7 line is the one worth reading twice. The PROSiX / SiX 2.4 GHz receiver is built into the panel, and the PROTAKEOVER module is what adds legacy 319.5, 345 and 433 MHz reception. The rotary switch on that module selects one legacy protocol at a time: 0 = 5800, 1 = 2GIG, 2 = DSC, 3 = ITI/Qolsys, 4 = Bosch. For a 345 MHz PIR-DUAL on a PROA7, that rotary belongs on 0. How the 55 lb pet immunity works
The PIR-DUAL uses a dual-element pyroelectric detector. The element pair looks at two adjacent slices of the field of view, and an alarm is declared only on a qualified sequence of polarity changes - a target crossing both slices at human size and speed. A pet moving low and small through the pattern does not produce that sequence, so it is ignored. That is the mechanism behind the 55 lb figure, and it is why aim and mounting height matter: mount at 7.5 ft or 10 ft, position the detector so a likely intruder path crosses the coverage rather than running straight at it, and keep it away from windows, direct sunlight, heaters and HVAC vents.
Sensitivity is a jumper, not a guess. At normal sensitivity the detector alarms after roughly 3 to 5 steps; at high sensitivity, after roughly 2 to 4. Normal suits most installations. Use high where an intruder can only cross a short distance inside the field of view.
Fully supervised
The detector sends a supervisory signal on a schedule and reports low battery, so a dead unit is caught rather than assumed working.
One CR123A
A single replaceable CR123A 3V lithium cell with low-battery reporting, so battery swaps become a planned visit instead of an emergency.
Cover and wall tamper
Both cover removal and removal from the wall report a tamper to the panel, which is what a supervised commercial zone needs.
Swapping a 345 MHz motion zone: the four steps
Set the frequency before the battery goes in
Set the frequency switch to match the panel before installing the battery: OFF for 345 MHz (Honeywell 5800, 2GIG), ON for 319.5 MHz (Qolsys, Interlogix). If the battery is already in and you need to change bands, remove the battery first, move the switch, then reinstall the battery. Do this on the bench, not on the ladder.
Confirm the panel is hearing 345 MHz
On a VISTA-20P, the RF sniffer is Installer Code + [#] + [3] and Go/No Go test mode is Installer Code + [#] + [4]; exit either with Installer Code + OFF. On a PROA7, confirm the PROTAKEOVER rotary is on 0 before you try to enroll anything.
Enroll the zone
Put the panel into its sensor/zone learn mode, then insert the battery - or open and close the cover tamper - to send a signal the panel can capture. Each detector transmits a unique ID. Confirm the panel adds the zone, assign an interior-follower or interior zone type so it behaves correctly on a stay arm, name it, and save.
Walk-test inside the five-minute window
The detector is fully operational about one minute after power-up. For 5 minutes after the cover closes it is in walk-test mode: the LED lights for about 2 seconds on each detection. Walk across the coverage area, wait for the LED to go out, then wait about 12 seconds before the next pass. After 5 minutes the LED disables itself and the detector enters normal operation - there is no switch to flip and nothing to remember on the way out. Re-test at least once a year.
